Four Ways Nigerian Students Identify Cultists. Cultism is a real menace in Nigerian Universities and due to the increase in cult-related violence in the university system, many students have learned to steer clear of cultists and their activities. Many Nigerian students have learned to identify cult members easily, this is a vital skill for anyone, to avoid having problems that could ruin their stay in school. Some of this signs are quite visible others take experience. 

Below are some of the signs:

1. Dressing

Most cult members have a signature dress code, most times it is an accessory, maybe a hat or a handkerchief,other times it could be a color or combination of clothing. Usually blue, red, black or sometimes yellow is the color they choose, they usually wear such colors all over, in a show of identification. Usually it is best to avoid wearing a primary color in this way, when you are on the university campus.

2. Handshakes 

Sometimes cult members identify one another with handshakes signals. To avoid getting involved by mistake, shake hands and remove your hand, avoid funny wrist grabbing and strange post handshake rituals. Some call the handshakes ‘clawing’.

3. Nicknames

Most cult members have names reserved for their cults, these names usually have bearings on the types of cults they are affiliated with. Usually the names are reserved for their cult gatherings, but they also sometimes surface in daily conversations, so be on the look out for strange nicknames.

4. Strange speech

You might also notice that they have a language used only among them. The language is one you might be unable to understand. All these signs are pretty straightforward and were gotten from my own personal experiences.
