This
article was submitted to us from a student from the University of Agriculture
as a report to what majority of the students are currently facing in and out of
the school premises, and he also seeks for solutions to these problems, his
article reads below:
Hello
our noble school authorities,Under
due protocols and saving time i'lld love to go straight onto why am writing.
Its
so heartbreaking thinking about what we the students of UAM go through every
single day, the problem of mobility is an unbearable problem in our present
academic session, by mobility I mean transportation system, I can practically
say we have no transportation system in our school, it’s true we have them but
they are all self centered and un functional as I explain briefly below:
THE
PRICE:
The
prices our transport workers inflict on there services are becoming ungodly and
self centered compared to other Universities like UNN were all movement within
the school premises has a fixed price of N40, here in UAM we were managing N50,
until the fuel issue rose and our price became inelastic.
AVAILABILITY:
Due
to some reasons which I really can’t think of, a lot of mobility workers as
left our school, maybe due to fuel rise or something, I really don’t know. We student
end up trekking from south core to North core for lectures because of the
unavailability of enough transportation means.
DESTINATION:
As
early as 7am in the morning wee all student are known to be going for lectures,
the few available mobility would be picking for town, and only 20% would be
moving within the school premises, the rest percent would be picking those
going to town and in doing this denies student the chances to meet there
lectures on time due to the fact that no keke or machine or bus would be
willing to pick within the school premises, even if you meet one that might
want to, the price might massively increase which will be practically painful.
There are many other points I might have
loved to plan but this are the few I can write down to save papers.
SUGGESTIONS.
Every
transportation means should have a fixed price for movements within the school,
and even to the SRS junction at North bank I would suggest Keke and buses for
N30 for all movements within the school premises and N50 for movements to the
SRS junction at North bank.
Okada
goes for N50 for all movements within the school premises and N100 to movements
to the SRS junction at North bank.
Most
importantly, enough transportation means should be present. This is a school of
over 50,000 total individuals, enough mobility staffs should be welcomed in to
the university, 80% moving within the school premises and 20% moving
individuals out to town during lectures days particularly.
I am
going to stop at this point, more effective mediums can be also introduced and I
believe if my complaint is taken care of, 50% of the student welfare problems
should be considered settled.
Thanks
for reading and remain blessed.
